Day 3 :

Morning departure for the market to Cao Bang, where we can buy fruit for the hike.

After the market, we leave in the vehicle for 70 km and 2 hours of road to Ta Lung border post between Vietnam and China. Along the way we visit a village blacksmith in Ban Pac Rank.

Arrived along the border with our Trek backpack, we cross the river Bang Giang on a red bridge. We take a path that will sink into the landscape more wild with four montains to cross in rainy weather conditions that make it rather difficult terrain.

The picnic lunch is not very comfortable in these conditions, even savourless.

At the end of our journey, or 5h which is 14 km in hilly terrain, slippery and 515 m altitude difference, we arrived at at nightfall homestay. It is a family of the Thai community. Their house is on stilts at the edge of a vast rice field. After cleaning our clothes and shoes near a small source, we will be invited to settle down within their home.

We will taste a typical Vietnamese meal prepared from their own crops they grow and the animals they are raising.

We go to bed on a small mattress 3 cm installed on boards suspended as a bed base, a mosquito net to protect us from mosquitoes. Personally, I was not bothered by mosquitoes despite the humid heat environment.
