This hike begins at Lake of Mont Cenis or more specifically from the dam where you will find parking. This lake is located on the National Highway 6 that connects France by Savoy in Italy.

The altitude of the starting point at the dam is 1978 meters. The arrival at the old fort is 2917 meters. A total vertical drop of 939 meters.
