Bali - Indonesia

Denpasar :

We arrive at Denpasar airport called Ngurah Rai International Airport. It is located 15 km south of the city. His name is a tribute to the national hero of Indonesia, I Gusti Ngurah Rai, killed in action during the War of Independence. We will meet with our local guide Anwar.

We'll spend a night in a hotel in Seminyak before starting our hiking trip.


Blimbing :

By going to Blimbing by a transfer by road from 2 am because traffic is heavy, we will stop at Bajera to visit and enjoy the local market to buy a sarong. The Sarong is a rectangular piece of fabric at least one meter wide wrapped around the waist and held by a piece of cloth. It is necessary to enter places of worship in Bali. Of Blimbing, we will start a walk of about 2 hours with + 260 meters déniveler to cross villages and hiking in a beautiful area of rice fields also discovering cocoa, durian, pineapple, grapefruit. We set camp for the night around a sumptuous meal prepared by the villagers.



Temple Mekori :

We will leave the next morning our camp to Mekori Temple dating from the 8th century. Once at the entrance of the road leading to the temple, we will put around our waist our Sarong. There, a priest, the Brahmin bless us before entering a path through the jungle. On this path, you will come across monkeys from claiming you food. This temple has a lot of charm, it is surrounded by huge banyan trees, those trees with aerial roots. You will make a discovery in an atmosphere Indiana Jones. The atmosphere will seduce you it releases. In this humid area of tropical jungle, do not forget the repellent. This is the only place I've really needed.



Munduk :

After a short transfer to Munduk (1 hour), we will start a walk of 4 hours with an altitude difference of + 400 meters through rice fields and plantations composed of hydrangeas, the flowers used for offerings and Balinese decorations and religious ceremonies Hindu. But also coffee, cocoa, passion fruit, vegetables and citrus. We reach above Lake Tambligan, where, after a stop in a small restaurant planted on an outdoor terrace overlooking the lake, we will enjoy fish and squeezed juices. After this stop-lunch we descend to the level of the lake to find our hostel for the night.



Tamblingan lake :

In the morning, we will walk to the lake which is surrounded by banyan centennial forest to make a little boat ride. Then we will hike through the forest to discover its biodiversity through our guide, which is part of the office of forest guides. This hike takes us to Lake Buyan, Lake Tamblingan neighbor. We will discover several temples on this course in lakes and forests. After our hike about 3 hours without elevation, we will go through a short transfer of 30 minutes in the fruit market and flower Candi Kuning. After the market we will visit the temple Ulun Danau.



Temple Ulun Danu :

Situated on Lake Bratan, this temple dates from the 17th century. It is dedicated to a Hindu goddess of water, revered by Balinese farmers living from rice.

In 1917, during a violent eruption of Batur volcano, the lava stopped at the entrance of the temple. This was a sign to the villagers.

Bedugul Botanical Garden :

In the morning, after an excellent breakfast, we go to the Botanical Garden Bedugul is ideal to avoid the many tourists. It stretches over 150 hectares and contains over 1500 different species of flowers, trees, medicinal plants and has 2 greenhouses including one with cactus. At the park entrance, gigantic throne traditional Balinese statues. Bedugul is located at 1241 meters altitude.



Jatiluwih rice fields :

The afternoon hike in the rice fields of Jatiluwih. They are on the list of UNESCO World Heritage. Which earned them in the future some protection against any form of urbanization. These rice fields are a perfect example of the method of irrigation in place in Bali. This water management system called "Subak".



Sebatu :

At night we sleep in the small village of Sebatu. We will see a Balinese folklore show performed by an international group of this village Sebatu. The next morning we start trek, explore the surrounding rice fields and also admire the work of woodcarvers, who are deemed to Sebatu. In the afternoon, we reach the temple Mengening and the Royal Tombs of Gunung Kawi.



Temple of Mengening :

It is built next to sacred water sources. sacred baths are appointed and allow swimming, with a place reserved for women and another for men.



Royal Tombs of Gunung Kawi :

Built in the 2nd century along the river Pakrisan, its 10 temples Candi named are carved in the rock wall. They are supposed to be dedicated to King Anak Wungsu from Udayana dynasty and his wives. After the visit, transfer to Ubud.



Ubud :

An artistic quest, with its museums and artists. Place with an important market and down the city's famous monkey valley.

Many spa hotels, with famous Balinese massages. We go to the hotel Cendana Resort and Spa, ideally located in the center of Ubud.

At night, the city is very nice for its restaurants. Dinner at Cafe Wayan & Bakery.



Neka Museum :

We visit the Neka Museum and its famous collection of Mr. Neka, amateur art from the island. Magnificent.

After this visit, we will sleep very little that night, because at 2 in the morning, we start to climb the Batur volcano which rises to 1717 meters.



Batur Volcan :

The climb is done by night to discover top sunrise. You are obliged to take a guide  by multiple of 4 people, this is imposed by the Indonesian government. We descend through the peaks and go through the craters, where fumaroles out of rocks, the guide will show us how to cook bananas. The view of the caldera shows a lunar landscape, lava flowed with views of Lake Batur. Attention to this place, the volcanic rock quickly hurt if you fall.



Kedisan - Lake Batur :

After this trip to the volcano, we will rejuvenate us a good bath in the natural hot springs in Toya Bungkah  with a fruit cocktail Tamarino.

The night we sleep in a Losmen at Kedisan to the lake.



Lake Batur - Bali Aga Trunyan :

In the morning, we will walk along the lake to the village of Bali Aga Trunyan, then we take a boat to visit the cemetery where the dead bodies decompose in the open air. After the boat drops us on one flank of the caldera that we will climb to the summit and descend through plantations and villages to the east of Bali.

In the evening transfer to Amed.



Amed :

A day of rest in this fishing village where you can find quiet hotels with a black sand beach, but also to the mass tourism difference. We are harvesting the salt also. Throughout the beach, prahus these traditional outrigger canoes. Stay at Uyah Amed & Spa Resort, ask the first bungalow on the sea.



Tirtagangga :

Morning visit of the royal baths of Tirtagangga. They are located at 345 meters above sea level. Fountains, sculptures, fish ponds, vegetation and swimming pool for visitors.



Bali Aga of Tenganan :

After our visit of the royal baths, hiking 3h30 'through the rice fields and plantations from Bali Aga community, who are the descendants of the original Balinese. Then visit their village, where you will find fabrics that they manufacture according to a technique that is their own, the Geringsing tissue, but also other crafts.



Sanur :

We will finish in Sanur, in a small hotel Sari Sanur Resort, down the beach, consisting of small house around a pool. The beach in Sanur is crowded with tourist, not a meter free between restaurants and massage on the beach. By cons, good fine dining in some remote streets, which are excellent. We found a good jewelery.
