Ephesus is located in the old estuary Cayster and is one of the oldest and largest Greek cities of Asia Minor. Excavations at the site have revealed great monuments of the period of the Roman Empire, such as the Library of Celsus and the great theater. There are only a few remains of the famous temple of Artemis, one of the "seven wonders of the world." The ancient city of Ephesus is an outstanding example of port city with a maritime channel and harbor basin, because Ephesus was originally located on the shore. Today more than 7 km, gradual movement is perhaps the work over centuries of climate change and seismic movement.
